Session Handoff [auto-3140]: Fleet Script and Utility File-Naming Standard for #3140 #3197

Closed

Description

@ptr727

Next steps, in priority order

  1. Fix State the Fleet Standard for Script and Utility File Names #3140, State the Fleet Standard for Script and Utility File Names. Add a General subsection "Script and Utility File Names" to CODESTYLE.md carrying the issue's agreed table, its clauses (installed commands, wrapper exemption, externally fixed names, directories out of scope), and its two stated departures. Add one bullet to GOVERNANCE.md "Repo-Scoped Secrets" stating that a secret file's stem is lowercase snake_case. Sweep every surface that already states part of the rule, such as the python-codestyle Skill's module-naming wording, so the rule has one home and the others point to it, then regenerate the distributions per skill-lifecycle where a Skill changes. Done looks like a pull request into develop carrying Closes on promotion: #3140, merged as far as the run's scope allows, with the lane closed out.

External blockers

None known. The standard is stated in the issue as agreed by the maintainer, who filed it, so the work applies it rather than choosing it. Any wording question the issue leaves open is a decision to park on rather than guess.

Internal dependencies

State

  • No branch, worktree, or pull request exists for this lane yet. Re-derive with git worktree list and gh pr list before starting.
  • develop and main were level when this lane was created, with no open pull request in the repository.

The parked decision queue

Zero parked decisions on this lane.

What the last round did

Nothing yet. This lane was created by the unattended picker from the open backlog, ranked first because it blocks three filed follow-ups and a cross-repository rename.

    Parked: waiting on decision #3199

Waits on: decision issue #3199, the precedence between the "Installed commands" clause and the "Wrapper exemption" for an extensionless launcher of a Python tool installed onto PATH.

    Done:

    • Branch feature/auto-3140, pushed at 503b79926b623bd4d35d70e5f73429bd02c661d6, pull request #3198 into develop, open and ready for review, its body carrying Closes on promotion: #3140.
    • CODESTYLE.md gained the General subsection "Script and Utility File Names" (table, clauses, departures, with third-party links in an <!-- External --> definition group). GOVERNANCE.md "Repo-Scoped Secrets" gained the snake_case stem bullet. The python-codestyle Skill's naming line points at the new section, and the distributions were regenerated.
    • Local gates clean: prose_lint (plus --check sentence-length), build_dist --check, spec/validate, repo_gate eol, docker markdownlint, cspell, editorconfig-checker, and the full tests/ unittest suite.
    • Three local strict review passes, recorded and attested on State the Fleet Standard for Script and Utility File Names #3198. Rounds one and two were fixed. The third pass's only finding is the one Decide Whether an Installed Launcher Takes the Command or the Wrapper Name #3199 asks, listed in the pull request body as the open introduced finding. The edit budget for this push is spent.

Worktree: left standing at /home/pieter/repos/worktrees/ProjectTemplate-auto-3140, clean, on the pushed head. Its local review receipt covers the pushed content.

    Remains:

    1. Apply the answer on Decide Whether an Installed Launcher Takes the Command or the Wrapper Name #3199. Option 1 or 2 is one added sentence in CODESTYLE.md "Script and Utility File Names". Option 3 changes nothing. Take any edit through local-strict-review, push, and attest.
    2. Drive State the Fleet Standard for Script and Utility File Names #3198's review loop from its first Copilot round, since no pr_review.py wait has run on it yet, then merge it into develop and run pr_review.py cleanup 3198.
    3. Close this lane out. State the Fleet Standard for Script and Utility File Names #3140 closes when develop is promoted.

No lesson issue was filed this round.

Lane closed out: #3198 merged into develop

Outcome: #3198 squash-merged into develop as ebb1b40. #3140 closes on the next develop -> main promotion, via the Closes on promotion line in #3198's body.

Decision #3199 was answered by the maintainer (option 1), together with a follow-up the local review raised. Both answers are recorded on that issue, which is closed:

    • Any executable or launcher on PATH or in a system slot is an installed command. It is named lowercase-hyphenated, with no extension unless the platform needs one to run it (.cmd or .ps1 on Windows).
    • The wrapper exemption covers only a launcher run by its path.

    This round:

    • Four fix commits on CODESTYLE.md "Script and Utility File Names": the decision, the PATH-shim follow-up, the "Installed commands" redefinition, and the removal of a restated name list.
    • One CodeRabbit finding fixed: the .py row's importability claim is now limited to the import statement.
    • Each push was covered by a recorded and attested local strict-review pass. The final pass recorded 0 findings.
    • Both review threads are resolved, and all 13 checks passed on the merged head.
    • pr_review.py cleanup 3198 removed the branch and worktree.

Not done here: #3141, the follow-up audit check for this standard, stays open as its own issue.

No successor link: this auto-* lane held one issue, and that issue's work is complete.
