add an ordered release operator checklist for xy and the bundled reflex_xy integration
document version/tag safety, Rust-backed and coreless sdist validation, release monitoring, clean-install smoke tests, and recovery paths
add a Remotion release-video and LinkedIn thumbnail brief with verified-content, visual, delivery, QA, and explicit approval requirements
link the checklist from the contributor and production-readiness documentation
Why
The production-readiness spec captures release invariants, but maintainers also need an end-to-end operating procedure. This records the lessons from the 0.0.5 release, especially PyPI immutability, Rust/native verification, optional Reflex boundaries, testing the published package from a clean environment, and preparing accurate release media without publishing before approval.
Impact
Documentation only. Release maintainers get a repeatable release and media-production path without changes to package or workflow behavior.

The PR adds an ordered release checklist for the xy distribution and bundled reflex_xy integration. It covers release preparation, publication, installation verification, release media, recovery, and sign-off. Contributor and production-readiness guidance link to the checklist.

so CI verifies that importing xy and reflex_xy does not eagerly load NumPy,

checklist requirement to match only the behavior the CI step actually tests.

The release procedure in this checklist is out of date. #498 moved releases to a changelog-driven reflex-release pipeline: dispatch_release.yml → release_from_changelog.yml → publish.yml with tag-after-upload. The checklist still describes the old tag-triggered release.yml. CI on this head ran before #498, so changelog.yml has not checked it.
Required changes (details in the inline comments):
§2: remove the hand-written CHANGELOG.md version heading. Use news fragments and the Dispatch release workflow.
§2: point the dry run at build_release_artifacts.ymlworkflow_dispatch. No workflow has a dry_run input.
§6: replace --workflow release.yml with publish.yml, and list the pypi approval gate.
Recovery, safety rules, sign-off: rewrite for tag-after-upload. Name uv publish --check-url, not skip-existing.
Merge main so the production-readiness.md pointer agrees with the rewritten § Release Checklist.
Checked and correct: §1 PyPI check (/pypi/xy/0.0.8/json returns 200, an unused version returns 404). §7 clean-install commands work against xy 0.0.8: versions match and BACKEND == "native" from site-packages. §8 checks pass: line-chart HTML/SVG and scatter HTML export are non-empty and render in headless Chromium with no console errors, pyplot writes a valid PNG, and reflex_xy.chart(...) returns XYChart. §3 env vars and sdist smokes match hatch_build.py and the sdist job. Every make target named exists. No news fragment is needed, because the PR changes docs only.

Condition same-version retries on artifact hashes, not commit identity.
publish.yml rebuilds and collects artifacts from the current checkout. uv publish --check-url skips an accepted file only when the current file has the same hash. Therefore, a changed commit can retry the same version when every accepted file remains byte-for-byte identical. If any accepted file changes, publish a new version. The same commit is a safe default, but requiring it unconditionally is stricter than the artifact contract.
Suggested documentation fix

Update the release-retry guidance to distinguish failures before and after PyPI

If push-tag succeeds but create-release fails, the tag exists. A normal changelog retry selects only untagged versions, so it will not rerun this release. Document a separate create-release recovery for the existing tag.
Suggested fix

Minor · Assert the PyPI JSON and artifact set. · release-checklist.md:166-170
The checklist requires confirmation of the exact version and expected files, but curl --fail checks only the HTTP response. If PyPI returns 200 for a version with a missing wheel or sdist, this command succeeds and the operator can treat an incomplete release as complete. Parse the response, assert .info.version == "X.Y.Z", and compare .urls[].filename with the complete artifact list from the release checksum summary.

Minor · Add executable commands for the published-package examples. · release-checklist.md:210-223
Add executable commands for the published-package examples.
The section lists four checks but provides no source snippets, commands, output paths, or assertions. The published artifact also excludes examples/**, so an operator working from $TMP_DIR cannot perform these checks as written. A broken published package can therefore pass this section without evidence that chart export, pyplot rendering, or reflex_xy.chart(...) works.
Add runnable commands that create and validate each expected output from the installed artifact, or package the exact example sources used by this section.
