Summary
Removes vulnerable image-size@1.2.1, affected by CVE-2025-71329 / GHSA-5p2g-fcmc-qvqq, by upgrading the complete Metro package family to the official Metro 0.83.8 security release.
Changes
Pins Metro packages to 0.83.8.
Updates example metro-config from ^0.82.4 to ^0.83.8.
Keeps React Native at 0.84.0.
Regenerates yarn.lock.
Removes image-size from the dependency graph.
Verification
Passed:
yarn why image-size returns no results.
No image-size, Metro 0.82.5, or Metro 0.83.7 entries remain.
Lockfile is reproducible.
Metro configuration syntax checks pass.
Metro starts under Node 20.19.4.
Known environment issues:
Web bundling reaches Metro but fails on the existing react-native-svg / react-native-web native module resolution.
Example TypeScript compilation fails because the workspace package has not been built and its generated types are unavailable.
These failures are unrelated to the image-size remediation.
