@clack/prompts@1.8.1

Patch Changes

  • 8bd9129 Thanks @gameroman! - Return type for prompts now correctly specifies CANCEL_SYMBOL instead of symbol

  • Updated dependencies [8bd9129]:

    • @clack/core@1.5.1

@clack/prompts@1.8.0

Minor Changes

  • #592 caa32e8 Thanks @gameroman! - Export CANCEL_SYMBOL constant from @clack/core and @clack/prompts

  • #594 37fca4e Thanks @dreyfus92! - Add tab-completion to the path prompt: pressing Tab fills the input with the focused suggestion, so you can quickly descend into deep directories (type / and Tab again). Powered by a new opt-in completeOnTab option on autocomplete, which also shows a Tab: complete hint in the instructions footer. Default autocomplete behavior is unchanged.

  • #583 ae636dd Thanks @43081j! - Add async validation support to prompts, and validation state rendering to text prompts.

Updates xstate from 5.32.6 to 5.33.2

Release notes

Sourced from xstate's releases.

xstate@5.33.2

Patch Changes

  • #5718 015dc23 Thanks @davidkpiano! - Fixed metadata types in generic history values, snapshot nodes, and directed graph results. These containers now accept arbitrary state and transition metadata consistently with AnyStateNode and AnyTransitionDefinition, avoiding unsafe-type warnings when inspecting machines through generic APIs.

xstate@5.33.1

Patch Changes

  • #5712 8614c4d Thanks @crishoj! - AnyStateNode and AnyStateNodeDefinition now widen the TStateMeta and TTransitionMeta parameters that were added to StateNode and StateNodeDefinition in 5.33.0. Those parameters default to MetaObject, while the nodes of an AnyStateMachine have them as any, so tooling that tracks any (such as @typescript-eslint's no-unsafe-argument and no-unsafe-return) reported every node read off an untyped machine as unsafe:

    declare const machine: AnyStateMachine;
    // StateNode<any, any, any, any> passed to StateNode<any, any, MetaObject, MetaObject>
    takesStateNode(machine.root);

    AnyTransitionDefinition was widened along with the new parameters; these two were missed.

xstate@5.33.0

Minor Changes

  • #5700 6d8c317 Thanks @davidkpiano! - State and transition metadata can now use separate types:

    const machine = setup({
      types: {
        meta: {} as { label: string },
        transitionMeta: {} as { trackingId: number }
      }
    }).createMachine({
      meta: { label: 'Root' },
      on: {
        NEXT: { meta: { trackingId: 42 } }
      }
    });

    When transitionMeta is omitted, types.meta continues to apply its type to both state and transition metadata.

- @clack/prompts 1.8 types prompt results as T | typeof CANCEL_SYMBOL
  instead of T | symbol, so mocks resolving an ad-hoc Symbol no longer
  typecheck
- Add CANCEL_SYMBOL to each @clack/prompts mock factory and resolve
  cancelled prompts with p.CANCEL_SYMBOL
