feat: full attribute filters on metrics widgets, create_dashboard where/unit/series count - #1388
Conversation
…rd where/unit/series count Metrics widgets could only filter a datapoint label by equality, and the executor read just the first attribute filter, ignoring its mode and negation. So a per-state metric like system.cpu.utilization could not be scoped with attr.state != "idle". - Metrics CH queries take the full attributeFilters list (equals, !=, contains, exists, in, numeric), built by the shared buildAttrFilterCondition. A lone span.kind equality still uses the hourly span-metrics rollup. - The query builder lowers every attr.* operator for metrics (cap 5) and accepts OR groups, which are the IN form. - create_dashboard simple specs gain `where`, enumerate `unit` from the widget unit catalog, and accept resource.<key> group_by for metrics. - Validation entries report seriesCount so a group_by split is visible.

📝 Walkthrough
Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to Metric filters can include datapoints that lack a valid numeric label, and a quoted service name can change a dashboard filter. Resolve or explicitly accept these risks before merging. Pre-merge checks |

… options - seriesCount counted a breakdown as 1 series (its groups are rows) and summed chart queries, double-counting formula operands. It now takes the largest query, using rowCount for breakdowns. - Remove attributeKey/attributeValue from the metrics query opts; only tests still used them. attributeFilters is the single way to filter datapoint labels, which also simplifies the span-metrics rollup check. - create_dashboard computes the extra where clause once; its tests read the query draft instead of matching serialized JSON.

`spec.service_name` with the shared `quoteWhereValue` helper instead of
interpolating it inside double quotes, preventing the value from injecting

predicates exclude labels that cannot be parsed as numbers instead of coercing
them to zero; preserve filtering behavior for valid numeric labels.

Problem
You could not build a correct "CPU utilization per host" chart.
system.cpu.utilizationis reported perstate(idle, user, system, ...), so averaging it per host gives roughly 1/number-of-states. Scoping byattr.statewas not possible:attr.state != "idle".runtime/query-engine.ts) read onlyattributeFilters[0]and passed its key and value as a plain equality, ignoringmodeandnegated. So a negated filter arriving through any other path was silently turned into its opposite.create_dashboardsimple widget specs had no filter field and did not list theunitvalues.Changes
Query engine
attributeFilterslist and build each predicate with the sharedbuildAttrFilterConditionon theAttributesmap: equals,!=, contains, exists,in, numeric comparisons, and OR alternatives.attributeKey/attributeValueoptions on those queries are removed; only tests still used them, soattributeFiltersis now the one way to filter metric labels.span.kind = Xfilter still uses the hourly span-metrics rollup. Any other datapoint filter falls back to the raw table.attr.*operator for metrics (cap of 5, the same as traces and logs) and now accepts(a OR b)groups for metrics. An OR group is theIN/ multi-value form; the where-clause grammar has noinkeyword, and adding one was out of scope.MCP
create_dashboardwhere, a whereClause AND-ed withservice_name. It is rejected onlistwidgets rather than dropped. Unsupported clauses are still caught by the existing pre-persist builder-warning gate.unitis now a closed enum built fromWIDGET_UNIT_TOKENSand listed in the parameter description, with the percent (0-1) vs percent_100 (0-100) rule.group_by: "resource.host.name") landed separately in feat(ai): MCP tools for the Infrastructure pages (list_infra, inspect_infra) #1387; this PR adds a test for it.Validation
WidgetInspectionEntrygainsseriesCount: the number of series in the widget's largest successful query (for a table, its number of groups). It is shown in the rendered validation aslooks_healthy, 4 series, so you can confirm agroup_bysplit worked. Taking the largest query rather than the sum keeps a formula and the hidden queries it is built from from being counted several times.Docs

avg+attr.state = "idle"gives the idle fraction per host. Turning that into busy (1 minus idle) needs a constant in a formula, which is a separate change.in/not inkeyword in the where-clause grammar. The filter schema and SQL already supportmode: "in"; only the text grammar lacks it.Testing
packages/query-engine:metrics.test.ts(negated andINSQL, span.kind rollup kept, negated filter falls back to raw) andmodel.test.ts(negated attr, multiple filters, OR groups, mixed-group rejection). 308 tests pass, including the benchmark SQL catalog and runtime tests.apps/ai:create-dashboard.test.ts(where AND-ing, list rejection, resource group_by),inspect-widget-summary.test.ts(seriesCount for charts with formulas and for tables),registry.contract.test.ts, and the schema-doc and docs-drift tests pass.@maple/query-engine,@maple/domain,@maple/cliand@maple/local-ui(the other callers of the metrics queries). oxlint is clean on all changed files.@maple/aireports only the existing unbuilt-lib/module errors, none in changed files.Need help on this PR?
