🎯 Changes

The Mistral text adapter keys streamed tool calls by toolCallDelta.index ?? i. Mistral can send each parallel call whole in its own delta, and @mistralai/mistralai fills a missing index with 0 (ToolCall$inboundSchema has index: z.int().default(0); the response example in Mistral's function-calling docs carries no index), so the ?? i fallback never applies and every parallel call lands in slot 0: the name is overwritten, the arguments are concatenated into invalid JSON ({"location": "Paris"}{"location": "Rome"}), and a single TOOL_CALL_START is emitted. This was not reproduced against the live Mistral API; the cause comes from reading the SDK and the docs.

A delta whose id differs from the one already in its slot now starts a new call in the next free slot, and a repeated id goes back to its own slot. Deltas without an id still accumulate in the slot at their index, and ?? i stays for streams that omit index. This is the same rule as #1839 for openai-base. Only packages/ai-mistral/src/adapters/text.ts changes, plus a patch changeset.

Tests in packages/ai-mistral/tests/mistral-adapter.test.ts: two whole parallel calls with index: 0 and ids tc_1/tc_2 produce two TOOL_CALL_START and two TOOL_CALL_END with valid arguments (fails on main, where one merged call comes out), and argument fragments without an id still extend a single call. The @tanstack/ai-mistral suite passes (114 tests), and tsc and oxfmt --check are clean. No live API calls were made.

This change was prepared with Claude Code.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Fixed streamed parallel tool calls that share an index so they remain separate and retain their respective arguments.
    • Ensured argument fragments without an ID continue the appropriate tool call.

pcbeingused333 and others added 2 commits October 26, 2026 22:53
Mistral can stream each parallel tool call whole with index 0 (the SDK
defaults a missing index to 0), so the adapter put them all in slot 0:
the name was overwritten and the arguments joined into invalid JSON, and
only one call was emitted. A delta whose id differs from the one already
in its slot now starts a new call; a repeated id goes back to its slot.

Walkthrough

The Mistral stream adapter now keeps parallel tool calls with different IDs in separate slots when deltas share an index. Repeated IDs reuse their existing slots. Added tests cover parallel calls and argument fragments without an ID.

Changes: Mistral parallel tool-call indexing

Layer / File(s) Summary
Tool-call slot assignment and validation
packages/ai-mistral/src/adapters/text.ts, packages/ai-mistral/tests/mistral-adapter.test.ts, .changeset/mistral-parallel-tool-calls-index.md
The adapter reuses a slot for an ID already in the calls or assigns it an unoccupied slot when its indexed slot holds a different ID. Tests check parallel calls and fragments without an ID. The changeset records a patch release for @tanstack/ai-mistral.

Full details: Title check

Explanation

The title "fix(ai-mistral): keep parallel tool calls with the same index apart" matches the main change. The text adapter now starts a new call for a parallel tool-call delta whose ID differs from the call in its slot, instead of merging it into one call. The title is specific and uses conventional commit format. It names the package and the behavior.

Full details: Description check

Explanation

The description follows the template. It has the Changes section, which explains the cause (Mistral SDK defaults a missing index to 0, so the ?? i fallback never applies), the fix, and the tests. The checklist items are marked, and the Release Impact section marks a changeset. The description states that the cause was inferred from SDK and docs, not reproduced against the live API. The Docs and Changeset items are checked, but the diff summary lists only a changeset and no docs/ change, so the Docs checkbox claim is not supported by the summary. The 'I fully understand the code' item and the test-run item are unchecked, which is acceptable for an author checklist.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

No eligible functions found in the changed files. Skipping docstring coverage check. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 0 functions across 2 files. '@tanstack/ai-mistral': patch
---

Parallel tool calls that arrive whole with the same `index` (the Mistral SDK fills a missing `index` with 0) are no longer merged into one call with a combined name and invalid JSON arguments. A tool call delta whose id differs from the one already in its slot now starts a new call.

Document the changed Mistral tool-call behavior.

CONTRIBUTING.md requires a docs/ update for any new or changed user-facing behavior. It does not exempt bug fixes. This fix changes the caller-visible result by keeping parallel tool calls separate. Add a brief note to the Mistral adapter documentation.

# Fixtures

Fixtures define what the mock server returns. Each fixture has a `match` criteria and a `response`. Load them from JSON files, register them programmatically, or mix both approaches.

## File Format

fixtures/example.json json

## Match Fields

Field | Type | Description
--- | --- | ---
userMessage | string | RegExp | Match on the last user message — string (substring, or exact when `requestTransform` is set) or regex (pattern match)
inputText | string | RegExp | Match on embedding input text
toolCallId | string | Match on `tool_call_id` of the last `role: "tool"` message. The `onToolResult(id, response)` helper is sugar over this field
toolName | string | Match on tool function name — compared against the names of tool definitions in the request’s `tools:` array
model | string | RegExp | Match on the requested model name
responseFormat | string | Match on response_format.type (e.g. "json_object")
sequenceIndex | number | Match on the Nth occurrence of this pattern
turnIndex | number | Count of `role: "assistant"` messages in the request. Stateless — derived from request content, safe for shared instances. See Multi-Turn Conversations
hasToolResult | boolean | `true` when at least one `role: "tool"` message is present; `false` when none are. Stateless alternative to ordering fixtures by `toolCallId`. See Multi-Turn Conversations
endpoint | string | Restrict to endpoint type: chat, image, speech, transcription, video, embedding. Search, rerank, and moderation services (added in 1.7.0) are registered through their own fixture APIs rather than via this field
context | string | Restrict to a named context via `X-AIMock-Context` header. Fixtures with `context` only match requests carrying that exact value; fixtures without `context` match any request. Same opt-in semantics as `endpoint`
predicate | function | Custom function: (req) => boolean (programmatic only)

## Response Types

Type | Fields | Description
--- | --- | ---
Text | content, role?, finishReason?, reasoning?, webSearches? | Plain text response
Tool Call | toolCalls[], finishReason? | Function call(s) with name + arguments
Content + Tool Calls | content, toolCalls[], reasoning?, finishReason? | Text and tool calls in a single response
Error | error.message, error.type?, status? | Error response with HTTP status
Embedding | embedding[] | Vector of numbers
Image | image.url or images[].url | Generated image URL(s) or base64 data
Speech | audio | Base64-encoded audio data
Transcription | transcription.text, words?, segments? | Transcribed text with optional timestamps
Video | video.id, video.status, video.url? | Generated video URL with async polling

Override fields: Text, Tool Call, and Content + Tool Calls responses also accept the override fields listed below (`id`, `model`, `usage`, `finishReason`, `role`, `systemFingerprint`, `created`).

JSON auto-stringify: In fixture files and programmatic API, `arguments` and `content` fields accept both objects and strings. Objects are automatically stringified via `JSON.stringify()`. Use the object form for readability — no more escaped JSON strings.

Dynamic responses: Responses can also be sync or async functions that receive the request and return the response dynamically. See Dynamic Responses on the Examples page.

## Response Override Fields

Fixture responses can include optional fields to override auto-generated envelope values. These map correctly across all provider formats (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Responses API).

Field | Type | Description
--- | --- | ---
id | string | Override auto-generated response ID
created | number | Override Unix timestamp
model | string | Override model name in response
usage | object | Override token counts: `{ prompt_tokens, completion_tokens, total_tokens }`. Also accepts Anthropic field names (`input_tokens`, `output_tokens`) and Gemini field names (`promptTokenCount`, `candidatesTokenCount`, `totalTokenCount`). OpenAI Chat Completions includes usage in the response body; the Responses API uses a separate `response.usage` object. When omitted, token counts are auto-computed from content length
finishReason | string | Override finish reason (default: "stop" or "tool_calls"). Provider mappings: `stop` → `end_turn` (Claude), `STOP` (Gemini), `completed` (Responses API); `tool_calls` → `tool_use` (Claude), `FUNCTION_CALL` (Gemini), `completed` (Responses API); `length` → `max_tokens` (Claude), `MAX_TOKENS` (Gemini), `incomplete` (Responses API); `content_filter` → `SAFETY` (Gemini), `failed` (Responses API)
role | string | Override message role (default: "assistant")
systemFingerprint | string | Add system_fingerprint to response

## Response Types

Type | Fields | Description
--- | --- | ---
Text | content, role?, finishReason?, reasoning?, webSearches? | Plain text response
Tool Call | toolCalls[], finishReason? | Function call(s) with name + arguments
Content + Tool Calls | content, toolCalls[], blocks?, reasoning?, finishReason? | Text and tool calls in a single response. Add an optional `blocks` array to control stream order (e.g. tool-first) — see Ordered blocks below.
Error | error.message, error.type?, status? | Error response with HTTP status
Embedding | embedding[] | Vector of numbers
Image | image.url or images[].url | Generated image URL(s) or base64 data
Speech | audio | Base64-encoded audio data
Transcription | transcription.text, words?, segments? | Transcribed text with optional timestamps
Video | video.id, video.status, video.url?, video.error?, video.b64?, video.cost? | Generated video with async polling — `error` is the failure message surfaced by async video jobs, `b64` is base64-encoded video bytes served by content-download endpoints, `cost` is the generation cost surfaced in usage envelopes

Override fields: Text, Tool Call, and Content + Tool Calls responses also accept the override fields listed below (`id`, `model`, `usage`, `finishReason`, `role`, `systemFingerprint`, `created`).

## Ordered blocks (tool-first & interleaved streaming)

By default a Content + Tool Calls response streams its text first, then its tool calls. To control that order — for example to emit a tool call before any text (“tool-first”), or to interleave text and tool calls — add an optional `blocks` array. Each entry is one of:

  * `{ "type": "text", "text": "..." }` — a text segment
  * `{ "type": "toolCall", "name": "...", "arguments": ..., "id": "..." }` — a tool call (`id` optional; `arguments` accepts an object or string, same auto-stringify rules as elsewhere)

When `blocks` is present it takes precedence over the `content` and `toolCalls` fields for stream ordering: the blocks are streamed in array order. When `blocks` is absent, legacy `{ content, toolCalls }` fixtures stream exactly as before — text-first, byte-identical to prior releases. Record side is args-normalization only — see the note below.
Bedrock invoke | Full | Mirrors the Anthropic Messages content array: ordered `text` / `tool_use` entries non-streaming, indexed `content_block_*` events streaming — tool-first is wire-expressible on both.
Bedrock Converse | Full | Positional `content[]` blocks non-streaming, indexed `contentBlock*` events (carrying `contentBlockIndex`) streaming — a `toolUse` can precede the text on both.
Cohere (streaming) | Full | SSE emits `content-*` and `tool-call-*` events in block array order, each carrying an `index` — tool-first / interleaved is observable on the stream.
Ollama (streaming) | Partial | A `tool_calls` chunk can be emitted before content on the wire, but some clients reassemble positionally. Best-effort.
OpenAI chat-completions | Non-observable | `delta.content` and `delta.tool_calls` (streaming), or `message.content` and `message.tool_calls` (non-streaming), are separate channels/fields the client merges. The mock emits in block order and the streamed wire order is assertable, but the merge is not positionally interleaved, so tool-first is not semantically observable to clients on this channel.
Cohere (non-streaming) | Non-observable | The non-streaming body keeps text in `message.content[]` and tool calls in the separate `message.tool_calls[]` field — the relative order of a text vs. a toolCall block is not on the wire. Use the streaming shape when order matters.
Ollama (non-streaming) | Non-observable | The aggregated reply carries `message.content` and `message.tool_calls` as separate fields — no positional ordering between a text and a toolCall block. Use the streaming shape when order matters.

Recording: In record mode the recorder only persists a `blocks` array when the recorded upstream stream was genuinely tool-first or interleaved (a tool-call delta arrives before the first content delta, or content arrives after a tool-call delta). Ordinary text-then-tools streams are saved in the legacy `{ content, toolCalls }` shape with no `blocks` key, so existing golden recordings round-trip byte-identically. The Cohere and Bedrock collapsers capture block order this way alongside the original providers.

Gemini Interactions is the exception: its record-side collapser normalizes tool-call arguments only and does not reorder blocks on capture — its step-index protocol can't reconcile arrival-order blocks at record time. Ordering is still honored on replay from a hand-authored `blocks` fixture; it is simply not reconstructed automatically from a recording.

JSON auto-stringify: In fixture files and programmatic API, `arguments` and `content` fields accept both objects and strings. Objects are automatically stringified via `JSON.stringify()`. Use the object form for readability — no more escaped JSON strings.

Dynamic responses: Responses can also be sync or async functions that receive the request and return the response dynamically. See Dynamic Responses on the Examples page.

## Response Override Fields

Fixture responses can include optional fields to override auto-generated envelope values. These map correctly across all provider formats (OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, Responses API).

Field | Type | Description
--- | --- | ---
id | string | Override auto-generated response ID
created | number | Override Unix timestamp
model | string | Override model name in response
usage | object | Override token counts: `{ prompt_tokens, completion_tokens, total_tokens }`. Also accepts Anthropic field names (`input_tokens`, `output_tokens`) and Gemini field names (`promptTokenCount`, `candidatesTokenCount`, `totalTokenCount`). OpenAI Chat Completions includes usage in the response body; the Responses API uses a separate `response.usage` object. When omitted, token counts are auto-computed from content length
finishReason | string | Override finish reason (default: "stop" or "tool_calls"). Provider mappings: `stop` → `end_turn` (Claude), `STOP` (Gemini), `completed` (Responses API); `tool_calls` → `tool_use` (Claude), `FUNCTION_CALL` (Gemini), `completed` (Responses API); `length` → `max_tokens` (Claude), `MAX_TOKENS` (Gemini), `incomplete` (Responses API); `content_filter` → `SAFETY` (Gemini), `failed` (Responses API)

# aimock

Mock infrastructure for AI application testing — point your SDK at one local port and every provider, protocol, and service answers deterministically.

Quick start · The suite · Record & replay · Docs

One package, one port, zero dependencies. LLM APIs, image generation and editing, text-to-speech, transcription, audio translation and generation, video generation, embeddings, MCP tools, A2A agents, AG-UI event streams, vector databases, search, rerank, and moderation — no keys, no network, no surprise bills.

## Quick Start

    npm install @copilotkit/aimock

// The class is still named `LLMock` for back-compat after the v1.7.0 package
    // rename from `@copilotkit/llmock` to `@copilotkit/aimock`.
    import { LLMock } from "@copilotkit/aimock";
## Features

  * Record & Replay — Proxy real APIs, save as fixtures, replay deterministically forever
  * Timing-aware recording and replay — Recorded fixtures capture per-frame arrival timestamps; replay uses recorded timings for approximate timing reproduction based on recorded TTFT and inter-frame cadence (replay chunk count may differ from recording — TTFT and average pace are preserved, not per-token fidelity) with configurable `--replay-speed` multiplier
  * Recorded token usage and cost — Recording captures the final usage frame of a streaming completion, so replayed fixtures serve real `prompt_tokens` / `completion_tokens` instead of a length estimate; OpenRouter's provider-reported `usage.cost` and its `cost_details` / `*_tokens_details` breakdowns are captured too, so an app that bills from real provider cost can e2e-test its wallet path from a tape
  * Multi-turn Conversations — Record and replay multi-turn traces with tool rounds; match distinct turns via `turnIndex`, `hasToolResult`, `toolCallId`, `toolResultContains` (gate on the tool-result payload), `sequenceIndex`, `systemMessage` (gate on host-supplied agent context), or custom predicates
  * Ollama embedding recordings — Current `/api/embed` captures retain input shape, dimensions and model in their match and stay separate from legacy/OpenAI embedding operations.
  * 11 providers across 22 API surfaces — OpenAI Chat, OpenAI Responses, OpenAI Realtime (GA; an `OpenAI-Beta: realtime=v1` request gets the real sunset rejection), GPT-Live, Claude, Gemini REST, Gemini embedContent, Gemini Live, Gemini Interactions, Azure, Bedrock, Vertex AI, Ollama (chat + embeddings), Cohere (chat + embed), OpenRouter (chat + router failover), BytePlus Ark (OpenAI-compatible chat + images under `/api/v3`), ElevenLabs TTS and Voice Design — full streaming support Bedrock with the current AWS JavaScript SDK needs `requestHandler: new NodeHttpHandler()` from `@smithy/node-http-handler` for aimock's HTTP/1 server. See SDK setup.
  * Multimedia APIs — image generation (`gpt-image-1` default, Imagen; `/v1/images/variations` replays OpenAI's removal 404), image editing (/v1/images/edits), text-to-speech (OpenAI + ElevenLabs TTS and Voice Design), audio transcription, audio translation (/v1/audio/translations), video generation, OpenRouter video generation (/api/v1/videos with async job lifecycle), Google Veo video generation (:predictLongRunning + /v1beta/operations async lifecycle), Grok Imagine video generation (/v1/videos/generations with async job lifecycle), BytePlus Ark video generation (Seedance, /api/v3/contents/generations/tasks with async task lifecycle), fal.ai (image / video / audio with queue lifecycle)

### Fixed

  * Every wrapper path journals now — exact-length or `X-Total-Count` asserts see more (#441)
  * Moderation, rerank and search honour strict mode; non-object JSON bodies now `400` (#440, #438)
  * `POST /__aimock/error` validates its payload; quoted multipart boundaries parse (#434)

  * New `--provider-byteplus` flag to proxy BytePlus Ark to an upstream base (#424)

### Changed

  * `/api/v3` chat and image requests are attributed to the `byteplus` provider (#424)
  * `aimock-pytest` now defaults to `@copilotkit/aimock` 1.41.0.

### Fixed

  * aimock now fails at startup if a BytePlus base already ends in `/api/v3` (#424)

## [1.40.0] - 2026-09-08

### Added

  * `GET /__aimock/fixtures` — read-only fixture-count introspection. The control API could already add fixtures (`POST`) and clear them (`DELETE`), but offered no way to ASK what was loaded, so a CI job or test harness wanting to confirm its tape was registered had to send a probe chat request and infer the answer from the reply. `GET /__aimock/fixtures` returns `{ count }`. It sits behind the same `AIMOCK_API_KEYS` boundary and CORS headers as every other `/__aimock/*` route, and serializes the count ONLY — fixtures carry predicate closures, so none of their contents cross the wire (#407)

  * AG-UI subagent lifecycle events, and `subagentRunId` attribution mirrored where canonical declares it. Upstream `@ag-ui/core` added `SUBAGENT_STARTED` / `SUBAGENT_FINISHED` / `SUBAGENT_ERROR` and threaded an optional `subagentRunId` through the events a subagent can emit; aimock's AG-UI types carried none of it. Discriminates fixtures whose requests differ only inside the tool-result payload — e.g. a human-in-the-loop suspend tool where approve and cancel resume with the same `tool_call_id` but different result JSON. JSON-expressible, so fixture files can finally split those legs without a programmatic `predicate`. Validated at load time (non-empty string — an empty substring would silently act as a catch-all), included in the duplicate-userMessage dedup key and the catch-all discriminator set, and routed through the `aimock-pytest` match-level kwarg keys (aimock-pytest 0.5.0) (#299)

### Fixed

  * The duplicate-userMessage shadow check no longer warns for fixtures that share a `userMessage` but are legitimately disambiguated by a matcher the dedup key previously omitted (`systemMessage`, `model`, `toolName`, `toolCallId`, `inputText`, `responseFormat`, `endpoint`). The dedup key now covers every discriminator the router actually matches on and serialises RegExp / array matchers kind-aware so they don't collide; a `predicate`-bearing fixture is keyed by identity so it is never a false duplicate. This only suppresses spurious warnings — the check never dropped or deduped fixtures (#299)
  * Bumped the `aimock-pytest` default server pin (`_version.py`) to 1.37.0 so the auto-download path (used when `AIMOCK_CLI_PATH` is unset) runs a server that supports the new `toolResultContains` match kwarg the client forwards (#299)
  * Guarded `recordedTimings.interChunkDelaysMs` against non-array values: a fixture whose `interChunkDelaysMs` is malformed (null, missing, or not an array) no longer throws during load and silently drops every fixture in that file — the value is coerced to an empty array (#299)

  * Record-mode live proxying for the Veo surface (`record.providers.veo`) — submit and poll forwarded 1:1, eager fixture capture of the Files-API uri on `done:true`; captured operations replay later (#278)
  * Native xAI Grok Imagine async video lifecycle mock — `POST /v1/videos/generations` submit (JSON-only; multipart rejected with 400), `GET /v1/videos/{request_id}` poll through `pending → done | failed | expired` with synthesized `progress`, `grokVideo` progression, `cost_in_usd_ticks` units, and a Sora-safe `/v1/videos/{id}` dispatch that leaves the OpenAI video surface unchanged (#278)
  * Record-mode live proxying for the Grok surface (`record.providers.grok`) — submit and poll forwarded 1:1, eager fixture capture of url/duration/cost on `done`, `failed` persisted, `expired` passed through; captured jobs replay later (#278)
  * Optional `blocks` array on the combined `content` + `toolCalls` fixture shape lets a fixture express ordered text/tool-call blocks (`{type:"text",text}` | `{type:"toolCall",name, arguments,id?}`); when present it takes precedence over `{content, toolCalls}` for stream order, enabling tool-first and interleaved ordering. Legacy `{content, toolCalls}` fixtures are unchanged (#274)
  * All five providers stream combined responses in fixture block order: Anthropic, OpenAI Responses, and Gemini are fully observable; Ollama is best-effort (clients may reassemble positionally); OpenAI chat-completions emits in order but is degenerate (`delta.content`/`delta.tool_calls` are separate channels the client merges) (#274)
  * Recorder captures block order and persists `blocks` only when the recorded upstream stream was genuinely tool-first or interleaved; text-first streams keep the legacy `{content, toolCalls}` shape so golden recordings round-trip byte-identically (#274)
  * Blocks-only fixtures are first-class: a non-empty `blocks` array is a complete response shape on its own, with no `content`/`toolCalls` required — builders derive the aggregate from the blocks and `validateFixtures()` accepts the shape (#274)
  * Block ordering is now honored on replay across the remaining providers — Cohere (streaming), Bedrock invoke, Bedrock Converse, and Gemini Interactions — so a tool-first or interleaved fixture streams its tool call ahead of its text wherever the wire protocol can express it (#274)
  * Record-side block capture extends to the Cohere and Bedrock collapsers; Gemini Interactions normalizes tool-call arguments only and does not reorder blocks on capture (its step-index protocol can't reconcile arrival-order blocks at record time), while replay still honors a hand-authored `blocks` array (#274)
  * `validateBlocks` rejects a malformed `blocks` array at load time — non-array, non-object entries, a `type` other than `text`/`toolCall`, a non-string or empty-string text block, or a `toolCall` block missing a name or carrying non-JSON arguments — and warns when a fixture carries both `blocks` and divergent `content`/`toolCalls`, so a bad array never reaches a builder mid-dispatch (#274)

## [1.34.0] - 2026-06-24

### Changed

  * Replay matching is content-anchored: `turnIndex` disambiguates, no longer a hard reject gate (#276)
  * Empirical over 9769 real requests: 3213 false-miss fixes, 0 new misses, 0 wrong-fixture (#276)
  * Diverges only on off-by-N assistant count in either direction (behind OR ahead of turn) (#276)
  * New `turnIndexRelaxed` match diagnostic + one-shot logger warn on a divergent relaxed serve (#276)
  * `AIMOCK_STRICT_TURN_INDEX=1` restores the legacy strict turnIndex gate for replay (#276)

### Fixed

  * Gemini Interactions mock now emits the SDK 2.x event protocol on both paths — streamed SSE (`step.*`, `interaction.created`/`completed`, tool args via `arguments_delta`) and non-streaming responses (`steps`/`output_text`); legacy 1.x recorded fixtures still parse (#279)

## [1.33.0] - 2026-06-23

### Added

  * `--max-proxy-buffer-bytes` / `--max-proxy-buffer-frames` flags to cap proxy buffering (#275)

### Fixed

  * Proxy path no longer leaks memory on long-lived upstream streams (#275)
### Changed

  * Reasoning emission — replaying a reasoning channel is now gated on the requested model's capability. aimock no longer synthesizes a reasoning channel (chat `reasoning_content` / Responses `reasoning_summary_text` / Anthropic thinking / etc.) for models that would not emit reasoning against the real provider. A new `isReasoningModel` classifier and `resolveReasoningForModel` gate are applied across OpenAI chat + Responses, Anthropic, Ollama, Gemini, Cohere, Bedrock (invoke + Converse), and WebSocket Responses: a non-reasoning model paired with a reasoning fixture has its reasoning suppressed under strict mode, or warns-and-emits otherwise. The `AIMOCK_REASONING_MODELS` and `AIMOCK_NONREASONING_MODELS` env vars override the classifier.
  * Tool-only reasoning emission — the capability gate now also covers the tool-call-only response path of every provider (OpenAI chat + Responses, Cohere, Bedrock invoke + Converse, Ollama, WebSocket Responses, and the Gemini chat tool-only path). Previously a tool-only fixture carrying reasoning dropped the reasoning channel entirely; it now emits the provider-native reasoning channel for reasoning-capable models and is suppressed under strict mode (or warns-and-emits otherwise), matching the text and content+tool paths, with leading reasoning blocks shifting streaming tool/output indices by one where applicable. No more test pollution from shared sequential state (#93)
  * Combined `content + toolCalls` in fixture responses — new `ContentWithToolCallsResponse` type and type guard, supported across OpenAI Chat, OpenAI Responses, Anthropic Messages, and Gemini, with stream collapse support (#92)
  * OpenRouter `reasoning_content` support in chat completions (#88)
  * Demo video in README (#91)
  * CI: Slack notifications for drift tests, competitive matrix updates, and new PRs (#86)
  * Docs: reasoning and webSearches rows in Response Types table

### Fixed

  * `web_search_call` items now use `action.query` matching real OpenAI API format (#89)
  * Homepage URL cleaned up (remove `/index.html` suffix) (#90)
  * Record & Replay section title now centered and terminal panel top-aligned (#87)
  * CI: use `pull_request_target` for fork PR Slack alerts

## 1.8.0

### Added

  * `requestTransform` option for deterministic matching and recording — normalizes requests before matching (strips timestamps, UUIDs, session IDs) and switches to exact equality when set. </excerpt>

### Added

  * BytePlus Ark (Seedance) video record/replay — submit, poll, retrieve raw Ark tasks (#424)
  * New `--provider-byteplus` flag to proxy BytePlus Ark to an upstream base (#424)

### Changed

  * `/api/v3` chat and image requests are attributed to the `byteplus` provider (#424)
  * `aimock-pytest` now defaults to `@copilotkit/aimock` 1.41.0.

## [1.37.4] - 2026-07-20

### Fixed

  * `hasToolResult` record and replay are symmetric again: both the recorder (`buildFixtureMatch`) and the matcher (`matchFixtureDiagnostic`) now derive the value from one shared `currentTurnHasToolResult` helper. The recorder previously STAMPED the value with a whole-conversation `messages.some((m) => m.role === "tool")` while the matcher (as of 1.37.3) CHECKS it scoped to the current turn, so a genuinely-recorded multi-turn fixture (a fresh user turn whose history still carried an earlier turn's tool result) was stamped `true` but matched `false` and could never replay its own recorded request. Sharing one predicate makes the two sides structurally unable to drift (#319)
  * Anthropic `tool_result` blocks bundled WITH accompanying text in a single user message now normalize with the text message BEFORE the tool message (`[..., user(text), tool]`), so a leg-2-with-text turn is correctly classified as carrying a tool result. Previously the tool message was emitted first (`[..., tool, user(text)]`), which is byte-identical to a fresh leg-1 turn and was misclassified `false`. * Record-mode live proxying for the Veo surface (`record.providers.veo`) — submit and poll forwarded 1:1, eager fixture capture of the Fi…[truncated]</excerpt>

### Remote fixture URLs

`--fixtures` accepts `https://` and `http://` URLs pointing at JSON fixture files in addition to filesystem paths, and the flag is repeatable so you can layer remote and local sources in argv order. Fetched fixtures are cached on disk at `~/.cache/aimock/fixtures/<sha256-of-url>/` (honors `$XDG_CACHE_HOME`); when paired with `--validate-on-load`, a fetch failure with a valid cached copy logs a warning and continues — without a cache, the process exits non-zero. HTTP fetches have …[truncated]</excerpt>

# Showcase aimock

Tagline: aimock fixture-directory layout, context-routing semantics, schema validation, drift-risk surface, and the manual add/update fixture flow. For service reconstruction (Railway image / startCommand / fixture URLs) see `./RAILWAY.md`. For matcher semantics / fixture-authoring gotchas (sequenceIndex, hasToolResult, context mirroring) see `../GOTCHAS.md`.

Deterministic LLM fixture server for showcase E2E testing. Replaces real LLM API calls (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) with pre-recorded responses so Playwright tests can run PR-gated in CI without API keys and without rate limits or non-determinism.

Railway pulls `ghcr.io/copilotkit/aimock:latest` directly (no wrapper image). The fixtures in this directory are loaded at boot via GitHub raw URLs configured in the Railway service's `startCommand`.

## What aimock is

aimock (`@copilotkit/aimock`) is a general-purpose LLM mock server. It speaks the OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini REST shapes (including SSE streaming), loads fixtures from disk at startup, and responds to incoming chat completions by matching the user's message text against fixture `match` criteria.

  1. Identify the user prompt your test issues and decide what response you need (plain text, a tool call, an error).
  2. Add an entry to `feature-parity.json` under `fixtures`. Keep more specific `userMessage` matches above more generic ones. Valid response keys: `content`, `toolCalls`, `error`, `embedding`.
  3. Run the fixture-validation suite locally:

    `pnpm --filter @copilotkit/showcase-scripts test aimock-fixtures
    `

  4. Run the per-package E2E against the new fixture:

    `./showcase/scripts/run-e2e-with-aimock.sh <slug> [test-filter]
    `

  5. Ship it. Fixture changes take effect on the next Railway service restart (aimock fetches fixtures from GitHub raw URLs at boot).

When a package's agent code changes in a way that changes its LLM calls, the person making the change is responsible for updating the corresponding fixture. There is no automation to remind you.

## Drift risk

Drift surfaces as flaky or silently-wrong E2E tests, not as a dedicated signal. Symptoms and how to respond:

Add E2E coverage for the same-index regression.

The repository requires E2E coverage for every bug fix or behavior change. The existing parallel-tool-calls test runs for mistral, but it checks only tool names and final assistant text. It does not verify separate IDs and arguments for same-index calls.

The current aimock fixture format does not expose a wire-level index. Exercise createMistralText through a dedicated E2E route or another supported raw-stream mechanism, then assert both completed calls.

Extend the same-index parallel tool-calls test so it exercises createMistralText
through a supported raw-stream E2E path and verifies that both completed calls
retain distinct IDs and their respective arguments; keep the existing name and
assistant-text assertions.
