fix(ai-ollama): keep parallel same-name tool calls apart when ids are missing - #1932
When Ollama sends no tool-call id, the adapter builds one as <name>_<Date.now()>. Two parallel calls to the same tool in one response land in the same millisecond, get the same id, and toolCallsEmitted drops the second TOOL_CALL_START, so one of the calls is lost.
The fallback id now also carries the call's function.index (or the number of calls already emitted when Ollama omits it), so parallel calls stay distinct. Ids Ollama does send are untouched.
Test: a response with two search calls and Date.now fixed now yields two TOOL_CALL_START/TOOL_CALL_END events with distinct ids; it yielded one before. The ai-ollama text adapter tests pass. A changeset is included.
This pull request was prepared with the assistance of an AI agent (Claude).
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Parallel calls to the same tool are now assigned distinct identifiers when the provider does not supply IDs. This keeps each call’s results associated with the correct request, including when multiple calls occur at nearly the same time. Provider-supplied identifiers continue to be preserved.
The Ollama text adapter now includes the tool-call index in generated IDs when Ollama omits an ID. A test checks that parallel calls to the same tool receive distinct IDs and retain their respective arguments.

Summary
Fallback ID generation and validation packages/ai-ollama/src/adapters/text.ts, packages/ai-ollama/tests/text-adapter.test.ts, .changeset/ollama-parallel-tool-call-ids.md
Generated IDs for calls without provider-supplied IDs now include the tool-call index, falling back to the number of previously emitted calls. The test checks distinct IDs and matching arguments for two parallel calls. The changeset declares a patch release.

Parallel same-name tool calls from Ollama models that omit IDs and report index 0 can still lose a call. The PR's test covers only distinct indices. Use each call's position in the tool_calls array as the index for ID-less calls before relying on this fix.

Full details: Title check
Explanation
The title names the package (ai-ollama), the fix type (fix), and the specific problem: parallel same-name tool calls colliding when Ollama omits tool-call IDs. This matches the changeset, the text adapter change, and the new test, so the title describes the main change.
Full details: Description check
Explanation
The description covers what changed and why: the fallback ID was <name>_<Date.now()>, parallel calls in one millisecond collided, and the fallback now includes function.index or the emitted-call count. It also states that provider IDs are untouched, describes the test and its results, notes the passing adapter tests, and says a changeset is included. The template's Checklist and Release Impact sections are not filled in. The description does not state whether docs were updated, whether pnpm run test:pr was run, or whether the author understands the AI-assisted code. It also does not tick the changeset or release-impact boxes. These are small gaps, and the core content is complete.
Resolution
Optional: tick the Checklist and Release Impact items in the template (for example, the changeset item and the 'affects published code' item), and state whether docs were updated or whether pnpm run test:pr was run. The core content is already complete.

Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 0 functions across 2 files. Use the local array index for ID-less Ollama calls.
Ollama’s ToolCall type has no ID field, and ToolCallFunction.Index is a plain integer that can be 0. If parallel calls share index 0, the fallback IDs collide in the same millisecond and toolCallsEmitted suppresses the second start.
Different timestamps do not fix the full issue. ToolCallManager keys calls by emitted index, so repeated index 0 overwrites the earlier call. Use each tool_calls array position for ID-less calls in both the fallback ID and emitted index. Preserve provider-supplied IDs and indexes.
